2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 9,100 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

I’m Back!

Topic : The Eighth Sin

Remember the seven cardinal sins? You’re given the serious task of adding a new one to the list — another trait or behavior you find particularly unacceptable, for whatever reason. What’s sin #8 for you? Why?

Sorry. Sorry for being away from you. I though I could do without you. I was in a wrong perception that that our needs for each other are one sided and I was not the one who would suffer sans you. I believed it was easy to let go and never come back again. I escaped the persistent urge of  coming back and checking for you day after day, I though. It was a short journey that we scaled together, but, something to remember. For good reasons or bad, you became a habit. Well, almost!

But, I could let go. I could beat the resistance, at least till the time that I decided to write this to you. Now that you are listening to me, I hope, listen clearly. It is a beautiful world with you in it. With so much good to say and so much more to listen to. Not just more, but different. Every time you refresh, you see the new thoughts pouring in from all directions. People define thoughts and at times thoughts define people. You don’t have to look perfect, you don’t have to speak with an accent, you don’t have to be conscious of your race, you don’t to change your gender, you don’t have to hide yourself. You can be yourself  and let loose. This world of yours is so very beautiful.

I went away, by choice. I missed you, I did. I am back, for a longer time now. There is so much piled up in my head since we met last and I will ooze it out in a timely manner. With a hope that there will be gentle ears in this beautiful world, Iwill have a lot to say. People of this world tell me what I missed and have you been fine? Let me see what you have been upto, after all, I have a log of your doings in your blogs. This beautiful world that I have been describing, is the World of Blogging. Sorry for going away for a while. Now I am back and I hope you embrace me like before 🙂

Coming to the daily prompt topic of the day, the eighth sin is to not blog regularly! ..Just trying to fit into theme 😛

Long exposure

Among the people you’ve known for a long time, who is the person who’s changed the most over the years? Was the change for the better?

No Response:

Today, I wasn’t going to blog,

The day is too humid!

Sitting still, like a wooden log,

My belly feels tumid.

I don’t like the Prompt for the day

It doesn’t hit my mind

So I’m gonna read what y’all have to say

Daily Prompt, sorry for not being kind!

Thoughts are just not flowing

like my logic has been cropped

There were days when I was rowing

but today I have stopped!

Fellow bloggers, some motivation?

Play Poker Each Day

Fearless Fantasies

How would your life be different if you were incapable of feeling fear? Would your life be better or worse than it is now?

Of course life will be different from what it is now.

1.If there was no fear of losing, I would play poker each day!

2.If there was no fear of diabetes, I would have banana and walnut muffin each day!

3. If there was no fear of Jail, I would skip traffic light each day!

4. If there was no fear of bankruptcy, I would go for shopping each day!

5.If there was no fear of falling, I would fly each day!

6.If there was no fear of failing, perhaps I would win each day!

What would it be for you?

Self Obsessed me!

Can’t Stand Me

What do you find more unbearable: watching a video of yourself, or listening to a recording of your voice? Why?

I love watching myself in the video. I am going to take the opportunity to share a video of mine that got viral when I was shortlisted as the top national debaters in India. The topic that I am speaking about is very sensitive to India and focuses on good governance. It also emphasizes upon the role to be played by the youth of a country in political activities. Coming to the topic of the blog, I love pausing the video and watching myself frame by frame. I also enjoy hearing my voice by closing my eyes. You can call me self obsessed!

Frame of Mind

If you could paint your current mood onto a canvas, what would that painting look like? What would it depict?

My Response:

I had a tough day! Here is what my mind looks like on a canvas!

My friends have blogged as well:

Wet Mud in the Rains

My experience

This is my experience from a wonderful evening during my winter holidays at Cheerapunji, last year! It rains almost all the times at Cheerapunji and I was on my evening walk. The downpour started and the the mud on which I was walking, soon got wet. The blend produced a scent that inspired the poet within me. Here is what I came up with:

As the soothing breeze carried away the raindrops,

That splashed on to the field, where lay mud,

They blended and produced an effervescence,

And in the odyssey, I stood mesmerized!

Hoping that the scent spreads through realms.

Wet mud in the rains, smells like happiness,

It brings a gleaming smile on a frowning face

It is contagious, It is pervasive, It is pure

Liked by all, loved by all

Wet Mud in the Rains, smell of all ages!

I am sure you can all relate to this. I know a lot of people who have heard people talking about this fragrance but never experienced the same. To all of them I ask, do you notice how you come to know that its raining even with your eyes closed and ears shut? Its the same pervasive scent of wet mud that sends you the alarm! 🙂

An Old Age Home

Contest Post:

Reviving Bricks

You just inherited a dilapidated, crumbling-down grand mansion in the countryside. Assuming money is no issue, what do you do with it?

It’s an amazing fantasy, “Owning a dilapidated, crumbling down mansion in the country side.” If money were not an issue at all, I would firstly invest a lot in renovating the mansion. Who would live in the mansion? All the parents who have been deserted by their children or who can’t afford a living. I would give it the looks of a palace, something like “Hogwarts,” with a tall gate at the entrance, ensuring security for all. There will be two palm trees on either side of the gate, so as to make it look less scary The gate would open up to a lush green garden with bushes fencing the borders of the mansion. There would be a jogging track where the inmates can go for a daily stroll. Inside the house there will be no stairs as it might get difficult for the old aged to climb, so we will have escalators. There will be a huge library hall, with books starting from the 18th century. There would also be a 3D movie hall with a movies-by-choice option. There will be a Virtual Reality room with a space craft simulation, where inmates can have a simulated experience of zero gravity. There will be a medical room with all basic and emergency medical equipment and a 24×7 nurses for both regular and immediate medical help. Coming to the bedrooms, interiors will be beige. Automated beds with a built-in functionality of body massage. Ofcourse, there will be separate rooms for pets, their own kitchen, washrooms and a play room. There will be a huge hall in the center of the room, which will be called the “Story Telling Room.” As we all know that our grandparents are experts at telling stories, in this room, they will share their stories which will be streamed on television across the world every day.

uhhh.. I can go on and on..

Roaring Laughter

Contest Post:

Roaring Laughter

What was the last thing that gave you a real, authentic, tearful, hearty belly laugh? Why was it so funny?

It’s about a few days back, last month in June. A very near and dear friend of mine, was helping me out of a tough position in my life. It was a point in time, when even chocolate cake would taste bitter and sour to me. I was confined to my room, and neglected health and happiness for a few weeks. She called me on one fine day and started narrating my own life, in the past few weeks, to me. How I was getting caught in my own inertia, entrapped in a vicious circle of life and enjoying self pity in the moment. It was hilarious how she was being both satirical and sweet to me. Hearing my own life from her gave me a glimpse of the damage I was doing, but she was so funny about it that I loved hearing it from her. It helped me overcome that temporary state of mind. Humour can be used as a medicine at times!

Generous Genies

Remember those lovely genies who grant wishes? Well, you’re one and you’ve just been emancipated from your restrictive lamp. You can give your three wishes to whomever you want. Who do you give your three wishes to, and why?

My Response:

1. I will grant everlasting peace to Iraq!

2. I will grant Kashmir to India!

3. I will grant Wimbledon to Federer!
