Have you been banging your head on the walls because of Arduino suddenly refusing to work, post the Apple OS update to Yosemite?
Well, I have been there and I can understand your pain. Despite the platform being open source, the solution is scattered and misleading in most cases. I was on the 9th cloud when I got it working again and I thought I should share this with the fellow developers. So, here’s a quick fix solution for getting arduino running on Yosemite.
1. Update JAVA for OS X from this link http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572
2. You might have to manually download the FTDI drivers for your arduino to be detected as a USB in your system. Use this link :http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm
If you luck is as hard as mine, and so far all this hasn’t worked out for you, here is the third strike!
3. Download and install the Prolific’s PL2303 drivers for the USB drivers from this link: http://www.prolific.com.tw/us/showproduct.aspx?p_id=229&pcid=41
Voila! Your Arduino should run at least as good as mine!
